You are the chief foreign policy adviser to the Israeli Prime Minister. You are tasked with preparing the Prime Minister for a visit to one of the countries that we have discussed this semester. Choose one country- China, Japan, Korea (specify it clearly in the title of your essay). Write a policy memo, no longer than three pages (1.5 space), outlining the most important recent developments in the relations between the country you chose and another country that we have studied (e.g. China-India, Japan-China, etc.). You should draw upon the course readings and your lecture notes, but you may also use newspaper articles, books, and whatever relevant, credible English-language sources you see fit (not Wikipedia). Make sure you specify your sources through clear references and bibliography (the bibliography is not counted in the 3 pages of the essay). You may use any referencing system you see fit, but be consistent. Length: No longer than 3 pages, 1.5 space. Longer does not necessarily mean better – a strong 3- page paper will likely be much better than a wordy 7-page paper. Structure is important – a good structure can make a huge difference for you grade. Use the China nuclear memo for a model on how to structure a policy memo.
