Share a brief, informal paragraph about whose work you are studying and some of what you have noticed as you have been reading their literature for your research paper. This is an opportunity to share with each other and perhaps entice each other to read more of these writers' work!! This post should be a minimum of 150 words informally expressing what is striking you about the writers' work. Below is an example to guide you: I have been reading poems by Staceyann Chin. She is so incredible. I've been watching videos of her perform and I have fallen in love with how bold she is! Her poems are angry, feminist anthems. One poem that I'm really struck by is "Tweet This Motherfucker" which is in her book, "Crossfire." Here is a line that I think you, too, will love: "you are an apology someone should have made/to women centuries ago." I wanted to focus on the poems in this book because they are a collection from 1998-2019. So, it’s cool to see how her poems changed and evolved, I guess as she did. Chin challenges the patriarchy in ways that are gritty and messy. I like that she doesn’t try to be polite or formal. Before I read this poem, I didn't realize poems could be this loud and mean. Reading her words make me want to write poems too and fill notebooks with my screams.
