Compare the concept of anatta, or “no-self” (as found in Buddhadasa’s “Three Universal Characteristics"), with Hume's “bundle” theory of the self in the short essay “We Have No Substantial Self with Which We Are Identical.” The structure of this essay is different from the typical essay. The thesis statement is located in the first sentence of the introduction. It starts with the phrase "This paper will argue...". The second paragraph (1st body para.) discusses your central claim /thesis. The third paragraph is an anti-argument (counter-arguemnt), meaning that you will argue against your central claim/thesis. The fourth paragraph is your response/rebuttal to the anti-argument. You must respond to the anti-argument by backing up your original central/claim thesis.
